Michael Faraday (1791–1867) was an English scientist.
Although he received little formal education, he was one of the most influential scientists in history.
At the age of 14 he became an apprentice to George Riebau, a local bookbinder and bookseller.
Riebau allowed Faraday to read the books with which he worked.
During his seven-year apprenticeship Faraday read many books and he also developed an interest in science.
Although Faraday had little formal education, he was an autodidact and he was known
for his ability to explain things clearly to educate the general public about science.
The mission of Faraday Learning is to continue Faraday’s educational work.
